Julia Nolan

Saxphonist Julia Nolan is a busy soloist and chamber musician in styles from classical to jazz. She has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver New Music Society, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, CBC Jazz Orchestra, Saxophilia Saxophone Quartet, and Saxoduo with her husband David Branter. She was the soloist for the CBC recording of Fred Stride’s “Concerto”, commissioned for her the CBC. Ms. Nolan was invited as soloist with the orchestra at the World Saxophone Conference in Minnesota in July of 2003. In 2004, Canadian composer, Ian McDougall, was commissioned by the CBC to write a concerto for Julia Nolan and the CBC Vancouver Orchestra. Julia Nolan teaches saxophone at the University of British Columbia, at Western Washington University, and is an artist-clinician for Yamaha Canada, Ltd.
