Born in France to visual artist and flight attendant parents, Boris was immersed in the creative arts and exposed to diverse cultures at an early age. By the time he’d reached his teens, he’d travelled extensively throughout Europe, Canada and the US, Japan, India, Central America, the Caribbeans, and French Polynesia. These rich cultural experiences, coupled with his passion for and formal training in music have contributed to him choosing the musical arts as a career path. Boris’ holds an A.R.C.T. Diploma in Classical Piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music, a Jazz and Commercial Music Diploma from Vancouver Community College, and a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of British Columbia.
During the past 30 years, Boris has earned a living as a lounge pianist, choir accompanist, musical theatre pit band musician, teacher and band member in various Indie-rock, Blues, Jazz, Latin, Children’s entertainment, and Folk music projects. He’s spent a solid and colourful decade touring internationally as bassist for the Celtic-funk band Mad Pudding and he is now a teacher and program manager at Sarah McLachlan’s music school. Boris continues to perform regularly and he is also an accomplished bagpipe maker, whose instruments are played around the globe.
