Donovan Seidle (MMus, Northwestern University) is a versatile artist, working steadily as composer/arranger/orchestrator, violinist, teacher and board member. Since 2003, he has served the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra as one of its three concertmasters. He is an active participant in Canada’s artistic community, working regularly in chamber ensembles and multi-disciplinary projects outside of the orchestra in performance and production roles. Donovan is a commissioned composer/arranger writing for diverse media, fulfilling commissions for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Kensington Sinfonia, Calgary Youth Orchestra, I Musici de Montreal, Ensemble Midvest (Denmark), Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Globalfest Fireworks Festival and more; including his work as Associate Music Director for the Emmy Award-winning ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. He has since written for such production shows as the 2011 Pan-Arabian Games in Qatar, and recently the 2020 World Expo in Dubai. Over the course of the 2020 pandemic, he facilitated the online presentation of arts groups in Canada and the United States through pre-produced audio/video and livestream. Donovan continues to be fascinated by interactive arts and music experiences including applications in VR and video-games, and enjoys brewing a tasty beer on the side.
