Leander Mendoza is a professional performer, and a voice teacher in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.  Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, Leander attended the University of Santo Tomas, where he took his vocal training under coloratura soprano, Gloria Dizon-Coronel. Soon after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Leander immigrated to Canada in 1995, and pursued further vocal studies with Philippine-Canadian soprano, Eleanor Calbes-Thompson.  Leander enjoys acting on stage and has performed in several musical plays, namely, The Music Man, West Side Story, The King and I, Cinderella, Man of La Mancha, Ragtime, Miss Saigon, and Evita. He has also performed in operas and operettas such as La Traviata, Madame Butterfly, Die Fledermaus and The Gondoliers.  Currently, Leander sings as tenor soloist at First Baptist Church Halifax, and is a regular performer at several locations of Shannex Retirement Living (Parkland) and The Berkeley.
