Ethan Filner joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Principal Viola in 2019 having moved from Ontario where he had held the same titled position with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony since 2017. He also was a Sessional Teacher of Viola at the University of Toronto from 2016-19, and in-demand as a freelance orchestral and chamber musician across southern Ontario. From 2001-16 Ethan was the violist in the internationally acclaimed Cypress String Quartet, with whom he toured, performed, taught, and recorded extensively, commissioned and premiered dozens of new works, and presented outreach programs for thousands of students of all ages.
